All leagues
- Full ice hockey gear is required in every league. See Gear below.
- Teams are balanced. Players who register individually are placed in even teams and loaned a league jersey ($50 refundable deposit).
- Ladder points: 2 for a win, 1 for a draw. Every team plays finals in Week 9.
- Be at the bench and ready to go on 5 minutes before your game. The clock starts on time.
Watermelon League (7U to 11U): 3 v 3 cross-ice
- 3 skaters and a goalie per team, one game at each end of the rink. Goalies rotate between players.
- No offside, no icing and no bodychecking.
- No stoppages: lines change every 60 seconds on the buzzer (3 quick whistles). Players on the ice must not touch the puck after the buzzer and must skate straight to the bench. Touching it on purpose is a minor penalty.
- The first two players of the new line can go on at the buzzer. The third waits until the whole previous line is in the changing zone.
- Goals must be assisted: a goal only counts if a teammate passed to the scorer. Goalie passes don’t count.
- After a goal or when the goalie freezes the puck, the attacking team skates back towards its own net and the goalie must move the puck promptly to a teammate.
- Face-offs only at the start, when the puck leaves the playing area, after a major penalty, or if the official has to stop play.
- Minor penalty: the team’s next shift plays with 2 skaters instead of 3. A power-play goal does not end it.
- Major penalty: play stops, the player is sent off for the rest of the game, and the team is short for the rest of the shift plus 3 more shifts.
Pineapple League (Silver, Gold and Seniors): 3 v 3 full ice
- Each game is 14 minutes in a 15-minute slot, with a 1-minute changeover. Teams must be ready 5 minutes before the previous game ends.
- Play never stops: all changes are on the fly. No time-outs or stop time.
- Offside is on (IIHF rules). No icing and no bodychecking.
- Face-off at centre ice to start. Face-offs only when the puck leaves the playing area or for injuries. No face-offs after goals, freezes or offside.
- Goalies play the puck: after a goal, a freeze or offside, the attacking team must leave the zone and the goalie starts the breakout by passing to a teammate. On offside, the attacker passes the puck straight to the goalie. Attackers can’t re-enter until they have all left the zone.
- All penalties are served as a penalty shot: the shooter starts at centre ice with everyone else on the far blue line. Once the shooter crosses the blue line everyone can move, and rebounds are live.
- A major penalty removes the player from the game and later games until the league commissioner reviews it.
- Drawn finals: 2 minutes of sudden-death overtime, then a 3-player shootout.
- Gold teams must have a certified coach on the bench. Seniors teams with U17 players must have an accredited non-playing coach on the bench.
Strawberry League (women 13 and over): 5 v 5 full ice
- Played under IIHF rules: 5 skaters and a goalie per team on full ice.
- One game a week: 3 x 18-minute periods in a 60-minute slot.
